Testimonial

"Rob was very accommodating.

He showed up at my house at 7:15am - so he could treat my house for ants -- before I had to leave for work. Rob is a very nice guy. I will most definitely call him in the future - for any other pest problems."

Testimonial

Rob Sullivan is a Gentleman and a Scholar.

He went above and beyond the call of duty to eliminate my ant problem.

We have always had ants in our home even during the winter months ad we have always had a regular bug man. Every other year I would search for another one because the ants never seemed to go away. Every time I hired a company they would discuss service plans and what that would cover, I just wanted my ants gone, I have no other bugs or mice.

Rob came out, found the nest, sprayed the nest and gave me a year guarantee.”

What do Ants look like?

Ants are insects that may be very tiny 1/8” to very large 1”. Ants have a node or narrow connection between their abdomen and thorax. They have chewing mouthparts, and their antennae are bent in the middle. Some Ants can sting, and all can bite. Ants can range in color from pale yellow to red and very black. You will usually see ants traveling in a line with other ants going back and forth.

Do Ants bite?

All Ants have the ability to bite. Some ants have stingers on their abdomen. Ants here in Rhode Island rarely Bite or sting and even if they did it would not cause any damage or anything more than a slight irritation.

What are the signs of me having Ants?

Live Ants are the most obvious. If you're seeing large numbers of ants either sporadically throughout the house or a lot in one particular area then you may well have a problem. Ant Trail inside, outside and close of your home are another sign. Ants will lay down an odor trail to a food source. Ant nests can look like a small pile of soil or dirt.

How can I rid my house of Ants?

The first step to Eliminate Ants is to determine the Ant Species. This will determine the habits and characteristics to help in discovering the nest which is the next step. Over the counter sprays my help for a short time but the best way to Exterminate Ants is to call a Pest Control Company that has experience, a good price and a long guarantee.

How did I get Ants?

All Ants send out a large number of Ant Scouts looking for food. These are the ants you see in ones and twos throughout the house. If you have a Trail of Ants in your home it means they found a food source. Ants will also make use of your walls and other void areas for nesting sights after all it is close to possible food sources and warm in the winter which allows them to forage even in the cold months.

Ant Biology and Behavior

Ants live in Colonies and can have thousands of workers but only one Queen Ant. Ants are social insects living together and working together. Ants pass through four stages, egg, larva, pupa and adult. Worker Ants are the most common seen as either an individual seeking a food source or a trail of ants traveling to and from a food source. Workers do not have wings. New Queen Ants will have wings to fly from the old colony to mate and establish a new colony. She will raise her first generation until they are old enough to start working. She will then rely on the Worker Ants to care for her by feeding and grooming. Most ants will nest in the soil, but some will nest in wood, walls and other out of the way area. They will be close to moisture and food. The best way to find an ant nest is to follow a trail of ants that are carrying food. There are more than 12,000 ant species in the world and 700 of those in North America. Ants are one of the most difficult Pests to control.
